We can hardly wait for tomorrows festivities to begin! Probably our favorite part of the day is going to the parade in the morning and seeing all the fire trunks and the police motorcycles cruising up and down the road! Today we wanted to share a quick and easy DIY 4th of July craft that you can do with your little peanuts. These festive pinwheels are perfect to take with you to your parade or family party AND they actually spin! Our little peanuts had a ball playing with them and they are so simple to make we love them too!
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Double sided paper in festive colors & patterns
- Scissors
- Duck tape
- Pins
- Wooden Dowel
Cut your double sided paper into squares. We did ours 8.5 x 8.5 in size. Cut each corner on an angle into the center and leave about an inch from the center on all sides.
Pull the left corner in on every triangle until you are holding all four sides in the middle. Use a pin to secure all of the sides together and push the pin through to the back of the pinwheel.
Bend the pin into a 90 degree angle to create an axis for the pinwheel to spin. Tape the flat part of the pin to the wooden dowel using the duck tape. That’s it! You now have a darling pinwheel that actually spins!!
We really hope that everyone has a safe and fun holiday weekend and hope our Fourth of July party has inspired you. We would love to know if you tried any of our table setting ideas, menu ideas or these fun DIY pinwheels and what you thought of them! We are going to be taking the rest of the week off to enjoy it with our families and will be back on Monday! Happy Independence Day!
Thank you so so much to Lyndsey Fagerlund for all of the darling images this week!
