The 4th of July is quite possibly our favorite holiday of the year filled with playing in the sun, family BBQ’s and of course lots and lots of fireworks! We are so excited to spend some quality time with our families this weekend but before we leave you we wanted to share a round-up of some of our favorite Independence Day inspired features over the years! Below are some great holiday crafts + lots of fun food ideas for celebrating America this weekend!

4th of July Inspired Breakfast

Breakfast has become one of our favorite meals and we’ve been having fun experimenting with different ideas. Now we aren’t trying to kid anyone… we don’t always have time for an extravagant breakfast every day, but for special occasions and holidays we love to start off the day with a fun meal. We’ve noticed that if we just change the shape and presentation of their favorite foods that it gets them excited to eat and even try new things. A simple star shaped pancake with strawberry syrup instead of maple can really excite their curiosity and taste buds! Also try these fun star shaped pancake stacks!

4th of July Handprint Flag

We can’t think of anything more special to our mama hearts then handprints of our little peanuts. We always see fun art projects involving kids handprints and we will probably never get sick of them! Get festive this weekend and make your own handprint flags! This project is super easy to do and your little peanuts will really get a kick out of seeing their hand transformed into a red, white and blue flag!

4th of July BBQ with Pottery Barn Kids

You can quickly create the perfect patriotic BBQ setting by adding a striped fabric table runner to your picnic or dinning table. Use lanterns or jars to hold wild flowers or even flags for centerpieces. If you are looking for great place settings you can use every year we are loving the Navy Cambria Bowls + Plates from Pottery Barn Kids!

For grub you can make an easy red, white and blue fruit salad! To really take it to the next level and wow your little party guests use a mini star cookie cutter to cut out star shaped watermelon bites! To drink we love cherry limeades garnished with a maraschino cherry! French fries are a must to accompany your hamburgers… try mini hamburger sliders with a flag on top!

DIY 4th of July Pinwheels

One of our favorite parts about this holiday is going to the parade in the morning and seeing all the fire trucks and the police motorcycles cruising up and down the road! This quick and easy DIY 4th of July craft is perfect to take with you to your parade or family party AND they actually spin! Our little peanuts had a ball playing with them and they are so simple to make we love them too!
